As a Para-educator, I have gained a wide range of experience and knowledge through my years with the School District. I have held positions both in the elementary and secondary system specializing in BASES which is a program that ​builds academic, social and employment skills and Learning Support departments along with in class support.

I have an extensive background working with students that have autism, behavioural and social communication challenges, exceptional needs and/or learning disabilities such as dyslexia, processing and comprehension disorders and ADHD .

In my past, I have had the unique opportunity to work within a district program for youths aged 12 - 19 who deal with mental health challenges. These students receive treatment and support for academics, cognitive behavioural strategies and public outings with the intent of practicing a greater sense of self awareness.

In my current position, I support youth with both academic and social emotional needs who are predominantly in Grade 10 by facilitating ongoing communication between their teachers and working collaboratively to meet class expectations, monitoring attendance, conducting home visits and providing community and school resources. I also make plans and goals which are individualized to each student by focusing on their strengths and stretches and successfully guide them through their academic journey.

Additionally, I help students prepare resumes, cover letters and participate in mock interviews to simulate a work experience situation.
